I live in an old house in Ontario Canada and a few years ago discovered in my attic a cache of old letters written around 1918. There is one from a Lavengne Liach who apparently was serving with the 8th Cavalry in Marfa, and he describes that Christmas raid. If you are interested I could send you a scan of the letter and a transcript. Maybe he knew your ancestor Harry. My name is Paul Young and you can reach me at youngenergy10@gmail.com Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156779058869621563.post-58765576395400850422014-05-18T19:18:17.721-06:002014-05-18T19:18:17.721-06:00Julie - Thanks for the comment. Yes, Harry E. Wright's first wife was Dorothy A. McComas. They were married September 30, 1917 in Las Cruces, NM. I do know they had a daughter Dorothy E. Wright. I even have a few family photos of her as well. I don't know too much about her after the family moved from Marfa, TX around 1920, however. I would be happy to help with any information you may need. Feel free to email me directly at andrew@itsolutions-usa.com if you like. Again, thank you for the post! The Census records for 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 all indicate he was born in Ohio. However, the 1930 Census says Indiana. His obituary in a Springfield newspaper from July 12, 1930 doesn’t shed any light on the mystery either. It’s interesting to note that Marion’s son Paul Davis, the informant for his death certificate named Indiana as the birthplace of Marion’s father and mother.Andrew Hairhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05917621588415449089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156779058869621563.post-55786711278160970782011-09-04T21:29:44.841-06:002011-09-04T21:29:44.841-06:00I would like to offer a hearty "thanks" ...I would like to offer a hearty "thanks" to both Susan Pounds and Debbie Babel for catching an error in this post. I met Bruce's mom several times, she was an awesome person. I also met his step dad and sister. I had a dream about him last night and felt him very closeby, and have had him on my mind all day, I am missing him. I went back to his obituary and searched online for more about him. Thank you for writing this amazing blog. I was so glad to find it and be reminded of his mom and sisters' names. I wanted to get back in touch with him for years, but to no avail. I will definitely go the Jefferson Barracks to see his grave and his mom's.
